For a long time
I have scrutinized the light passing through the stained glass windows of churches, expanding the colors with air,
I have seen the thousand shades of Venetian enamels,
I have admired the golden lines and the bright colors of the Luster of Byzantium,
I have observed the intricate geometric constancy of arabesques,
I have gazed at the ordered unity of mosaics,
I have watched the incandescent paste of Murano glass take on unexpected shapes,
I have spied the colors that nature insists on giving us.
All of this, and music, has been my inspiration.
